David Senior has this week been confirmed by the ONR Board Nominations Committee as Director of Regulatory Assurance and as the fourth Executive member of the ONR Board.
David will report directly to John Jenkins, ONR’s Chief Executive, and will be responsible for providing assurance of the efficiency and effectiveness of ONR’s regulatory decision making and enforcement activity.
David is a Deputy Chief Inspector with extensive regulatory experience across the UK nuclear sector, including as Programme Director for ONR’s Defence and Decommissioning, Fuel & Waste Programmes. He has considerable international experience, having represented the UK at the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG), and was previously Deputy Director for Nuclear & Radioactive Waste Policy in the Department of Energy & Climate Change, where he was responsible for civil nuclear and radioactive waste policy. David is also a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.
He will formally take up post next Tuesday 1 July.
