ONR's Chief Nuclear Inspector, Richard Savage and Michael Binder, President of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) have signed a new Information Exchange Arrangement (IEA). This replaces the previous arrangements made before ONR became an independent statutory corporation. It will facilitate sharing of appropriate information between the two regulators, support work where ONR and CNSC have common issues and promote and improve nuclear safety standards in both countries.
IEAs are enabling agreements which ONR holds with a range of international regulators including the national regulators of: China, France, Ireland, Japan, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, and USA.
