The Office for Nuclear Regulation has served Improvement Notices on EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd and Doosan Babcock requiring improvements in management of work at height at Hinkley Point B nuclear-licensed site in Somerset.
The notices come after an ongoing investigation into an incident in April 2017 revealed gaps in compliance of legal requirements by the licensee, EDF, and contractor Doosan Babcock.
EDF and Doosan Babcock have until 31 January 2018 to comply with the requirements described in the Improvement Notices.
ONR will continue its investigation to determine the underlying causes surrounding the failure to meet the required legal standards for work at height. Owing to the ongoing investigation, we will not publicly discuss any further details at this time.
ONR is satisfied that this issue does not impact nuclear safety.
