Court proceedings continued today (Thursday, 16 August 2018) relating to ONR’s prosecution of Sellafield Ltd for offences under Section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974).
During a hearing at Carlisle Crown Court, Sellafield Ltd entered no plea to charges relating to an incident in February 2017, which resulted in personal contamination to a Sellafield Ltd employee.
The case was adjourned until the pre-trial review on 2 November 2018. A provisional trial date has been set for 25 March 2019 at Carlisle Crown Court.
The matter remains subject to active court proceedings so the ONR cannot comment any further at this stage for legal reasons.
