Court proceedings continued today (11, December 2018) in ONR’s prosecution of Sellafield Ltd for offences under Section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974).
During a pre-trial review hearing at Carlisle Crown Court, Sellafield Ltd entered no plea to charges relating to an incident in February 2017 which resulted in personal contamination to a Sellafield Ltd employee.
Following procedural and legal discussions before Judge Adkins, a trial date remains set for 1 April, 2019, at Carlisle Crown Court. The trial is listed to last three weeks.
The matter remains subject to active court proceedings so the ONR cannot comment any further at this stage for legal reasons.
