CDG guidance published

As part of our work to support the amendments to the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (CDG) we have published our updated guidance.

The updated guidance is non-statutory but it will be a useful tool to inform and assist dutyholders involved in the transport of Class 7 goods (radioactive material), to comply with the amended requirements of CDG.

The amendments to the CDG Regulations have been made to implement the Euratom Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013 requirements for emergency preparedness and response, and the notification of certain incidents when transporting Class 7 goods (radioactive material).

The amendments to the CDG Regulations came into force on 21 April 2019. Dutyholders have a 12 month implementation period to be compliant with the amended requirements of CDG.

We held an informal consultation on the guidance, which ran from 7 June to 19 July 2019 and would like to thank everybody who responded. A summary of responses document shows how these responses helped shape the final guidance.

Individual responses will also be sent to everyone who responded to the consultation.
