Closure confirmed of four more issues on reactor design

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency have closed four more ‘issues’ with the generic design of a nuclear reactor proposed for construction in the UK.

In December 2011, the regulators identified 31 issues on EDF Energy and Areva's UK EPR design that must be addressed before they will consider issuing final design acceptances.

The confirmed closure of four more issues (GI-UKEPR-CE-01; GI-UKEPR-IH-02; GI-UKEPR-FS-01; GI-UKEPR-IH-03) brings the total number closed to 13, and leaves 18 outstanding.
