Chief Nuclear Inspector Advisory Panel (CNIAP)

A new panel will be set up to provide independent strategic technical advice to the Office for Nuclear Regulation on a wide range of nuclear safety and security related topics. ONR will be inviting nominations from interested parties to this new advisory panel which will meet approximately twice a year in London.

Interested parties will be invited to apply for nomination to the panel from 10 May. Appointment to the panel will be for a maximum period of four years.

Establishing CNIAP follows a recommendation from the House of Lord's Science and Technology Committee report (published November 2011) into Nuclear Research and Development Capabilities. The Select Committee report made several recommendations, one of which was that ONR reformulate an advisory committee similar to the Nuclear Safety Advisory Committee (NuSAC).

More information on how to apply is available here.
