ONR agreed to extend an Improvement Notice issued to freight company Austin Wilkinson & Sons Ltd in June 2015, until 11 November 2015.
The company had no written plan that would detail their actions, should an emergency arise, whilst transporting radioactive material (Class 7 goods) by road on at least two occasions in 2014.
ONR regulates the transport of radioactive material within Great Britain under The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009
ONR has considered Austin Wilkinson & Sons Ltd request, and their justification, for the extension of the notice, and is content that the duty holder has made reasonably practicable attempts to address the notice in the original timescales.
Austin Wilkinson & Sons are now required to submit their written plan by 11 November 2015.
