Having the right capability in Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEPs) is crucial for us to be an effective regulator as the industry grows. But we aren’t just waiting for good people to come to us – we’re helping to develop a new generation. We use innovative ways to recruit and develop people, from degree-level apprenticeships to bringing in talent from other high hazard industries as associate inspectors.
We’re growing as necessary to meet technical and support demands and are delighted with the calibre of staff. ONR staff turnover is less than 7% of the total workforce achieved annually since 2014, which may surprise people who think many are leaving – they are not!
