ACOP published

ONR and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have published a new Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance to assist dutyholder compliance with the new Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations 2019 (REPPIR).

REPPIR 2019 is part of the Government’s implementation of the emergency planning requirements of the Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013 made under the Euratom Treaty.

The new regulations came into force on 22 May 2019. Dutyholders have an implementation period of 12 months until 22 May 2020 to comply with the new regulations.

ONR managed an eight week consultation seeking views on the ACOP which closed in June 2019 and a summary report has been published:

Individual responses will also be sent to everyone who responded to the consultation.

The intention is for the Stationery Office (TSO) to publish the ACOP and guidance in the coming year at which point it will be possible to download copies from their website and order hard copies directly from them.
