Last December, we shared our plans to align ONR’s leadership structure to other nuclear regulators around the world with a new combined post of Chief Nuclear Inspector/Chief Executive. Under existing contractual arrangements, current Chief Executive Adriènne Kelbie CBE was always expected to step down as her extended term of office comes to an end in January 2022.
Mark Foy will step into the new combined role on 1 June 2021, when the new leadership structure will come into full effect.
Mark will be working closely with Adriènne, the Deputy Chief Executive, Sarah High, and the senior team during the coming weeks to deliver effective handovers, ensure stability, and maintain business continuity right across our operations. Adriènne will continue to lead ONR until the end of May.
