Executive summary

Purpose of Intervention

These inspections were both part of a series of planned Licence Condition (LC) compliance inspections of the Sizewell A Site for 2022/23.

The purpose of the planned inspections was to assess the implementation of the site’s LC14 Safety Documentation and LC 15 Periodic review arrangements.

Interventions Carried Out by ONR

I inspected the implementation of the site’s LC14 and 15 arrangements for the production and assessment and for the periodic and systematic review and reassessment of safety cases.

While on site I also held regulatory interface meetings to seek information on a number of subjects.

Key Findings, Inspector’s Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

From the evidence examined I judged that the licensee’s implementation of its arrangements for the production and assessment and for the periodic and systematic review and reassessment of safety cases under LCs 14 and 15 is adequate.

I sought updates on a number of subjects and was satisfied that there were no significant safety issues with the evidence presented.

I provided feedback to the site on the inspection findings at a close-out meeting with management representatives.

Conclusion of Intervention

I am satisfied that the licensee has implemented adequate arrangements for the production and assessment and for the periodic and systematic review and reassessment of safety cases.
